Course Info

Whether you are frightened by the visions of beasts and end-time judgments, puzzled by the tangled sequences of prophetic events, or simply fascinated by the Book of Revelation, this course is for you! In Revelation in Its Jewish Context, Eli Lizorkin-Eyzenberg and Pinchas Shir will take you on the journey of re-reading the Apocalypse in a completely new way. You will be introduced to Jewish literary sources that will help you understand the ideas behind the verses that routinely mystify Revelation readers. You will learn about Hebraisms in the Greek text and see how this unique book is shaped. As you re-read the book as a Jewish text, chapter by chapter, you will inadvertently discover Western traditions that make it one of the most misunderstood texts in the entire Bible. Insights from original languages, Greco-Roman and Jewish history, and nuances of culture and traditions will help you see what most readers miss in this fascinating and deeply inspirational book. (The lectures were recorded during live teaching sessions in 2023).

I would recommend that students go through each context one after another relating to revelation . I got confused and I was repeating # 3. It did no harm in reviewing what I had listened to before , as a matter of fact it added to my knowledge. Thank you.
